THE STORY THUS FAR: characters are still being introduced, gin’s backstory has been touched upon a couple of times, and there have been shenanigans aplenty

This episode introduces Elizabeth, the weird duck-thing/person in a cheap duck costume that follows Zura around and uses signs to communicate. Also, Catherine’s back.

The majority of this episode focuses on the Odd Jobs crew and Zura entering Sadaharu and Elizabeth into a pet show for alien pets, Gin’s crew for the prize money and Zura for the exposure. And even though Odd Jobs barely gets any customers, during episodes like this I like to imagine a steady stream of potential clients visiting their office, discovering no one’s there, and then deciding to take their business elsewhere.

It’s really lucky for Gin’s crew that apparently they and Zura are the only people in Edo who entered the contest, and lucky for Zura that no one bothered to check that Elizabeth isn’t a dude in a costume.

The contest between a particularly stupid dog and a person goes about as well as can be expected, before quickly devolving into chaos and basically ensuring that there will never be a 2nd Annual Cosmic Pet Grand Prix (or whatever the contest was called).

This was not the funniest episode so far and to be honest I’m not a big fan of Sadaharu, but I love Elizabeth and Space Captain Katsura so I had fun with it. Next episode is Hasegawa’s return, so I’ll be looking forward to that later today.

Till next time, whenever and whichever episode that may be.
