THE STORY THUS FAR: it’s been a couple days since i last did one of these, and during that time i watched too many episodes to summarize each of them. the only important thing that happened was a three-episode arc introducing tama. the rest was shenanigans
This episode opens with Otose and Catherine discussing that they got complaints about the last episode (not sure, but it might’ve been the dog fucking that did it) and will soon be off the air. I have over 100 episodes to get caught up on and still haven’t met Kyubei or Shigeshige, so I don’t think they need to be too overly worried just yet.
The episode proper opens with Our Heroes hiding under the table because Catherine has come to collect their rent. They remind the audience that she used to be a thief by having her sneak inside, only for the three idiots to attempt escape by jumping out the window, only to find Otose waiting for them in the alley.
They get flanked by both women, and all seems to be lost, when Sadaharu shows up and noms Otose’s head, giving them the opening they need to escape. They run off shouting about gathering matsutake mushrooms to pay their rent, and thus we have our plot.
This is one of those Pokémon-esque filler episodes where the characters meet some random person doing some random thing so they help out for some random reason. They don’t necessarily make for bad filler (I’ll take them over awful filler arcs full of annoying kids any day cough cough Toei cough) but they are fairly samey filler.
The hunter guy is fine, his backstory is fine, and the parasitic mushroom is fine. Overall, the episode is fine. There were some funny jokes, but it’s nothing special. I’ll probably have completely forgotten about this episode by tomorrow.
Apparently next episode is the King Kong twosome. Thanks. Till next time.
