it’s almost like companies don’t give two shits about religion and just want to market the hell out of gift-giving holidays wherever and however possible because $$$ (or, rather, ¥¥¥)

THE STORY THUS FAR: i watched a whole bunch of episodes yesterday with my sister and the only thing important that happened in them was the oh-so-cheery Okita’s Dead Sister Arc

This episode is an Ultraman parody. I’ve never watched Ultraman. I have a sneaking suspicion there’s gonna be jokes flying over my head all over the place.

The basic setup for this episode is a giant lady from space visits earth on Valentine’s Day in order to confess her romantic feelings for a cherry-headed monster because she’s nearing 40 and desperate to get married. Precisely why the alien culture celebrates a holiday originally created to honor a Catholic saint in the same manner as the Japanese is not explained, but the 20 years since the Amanto invasion is more than enough time for bloodsucking corporate shitheels (and/or Tatsuma) to market such things on other planets, so I guess that’s a mystery that doesn’t need solving.

I have a sneaking suspicion Spacewoman would’ve had an easier time romantically if she was less of an idiot. I know most of the problems in this show arise from people being dumbasses, but my life has been plagued by grown-ass adults who still wanna act like teenagers long past the point where they should’ve grown that fuck out of it. They have an annoying tendency to constantly ruin their own lives and the lives of the people around them because they feed on drama. It’s frustrating to deal with in real life and makes it hard for me to sympathize with characters like that because they remind me of people and events I’d rather forget.

Damn, this review is just full of grumbling. I’m sorry. For something positive about the episode, the cold open was really cool. I also really like the current ED with Elizabeth on the motorcycle. The song is great and the image of something as silly as Elizabeth riding something as cool as a motorcycle is funny.

Next episode Hasegawa gets arrested. Till next time.
