Gintama Reviews Episode 97: Exaggerate the Tales of Your Exploits by a Third, so Everyone Has a Good Time/Men Have a Weakness for Girls Who Sell Flowers and Work in Pastry Shops

It’s time for another 2-story episode. It can’t have been that long since the last one, and yet I feel like it has been. Huh. I suppose I could check, but… nah.

The first half is a Lupin III parody about ex-thief Catherine getting blackmailed by her ex-friend the Ed Elric cosplayer. Apparently she used to be pretty badass. Who knew. Either way, it’s an okay (if predictable) story, though once again I would’ve preferred the damsel to get herself out of distress instead of Gin-san having to interfere.

The second half is about Kagura filling in for Gin-san while he has a cold and it is just precious. I mean look at her up there. She’s adorable. The story with the married couple wasn’t bad, but Sachan’s flirting with Gura-san was a touch creepy considering she’s, y’know, 14.

Overall, this was a decent episode. Aside from Gura-san there wasn’t anything particularly memorable about them. Poor sick Gin-san getting bothered by noisy children/family drama was the funniest part of the episode, but aside from that there weren’t any big laughs.

Next episode features a battle for a Wii. Till next time.
