I can’t remember and am too lazy to check if I mentioned yesterday that I generally don’t care much about MMO plots in anime. I don’t have anything against them; they’re just not that interesting (to say nothing of anime that take place entirely in MMOs). That’s probably at least partly because I have little to no interest in MMOs in general, but they all seem to take place in the same generic fantasy RPG setting that isn’t made more interesting by making it a video game.
Anywho, Our Heroes manage to oh-so-coincidentally encounter both Katsura and Kondo within the first few minutes of the episode. They’ve both been turned into screwdrivers, as well, though in Kondo’s case it was from an accident involving a transporter rather than alien abduction.
Gin-san tells them the basic premise of the past two episodes, and Kondo wonders how they’re gonna find two specific dudes when there are people playing from all over the galaxy. Considering how easily they keep running into people they actually know, I doubt it’ll be too much of a problem. Not-Cloud also comments that it’s nearly impossible to find specific individuals, but, again, they found him, so…
Slight aside, but I noticed that the term the subtitler translated as “alien abduction” is literally “cattle mutilation” and that’s hilarious because they’re people.
I like this arc a lot so far. It’s hilarious. Not sure why Hijikata and Okita decided to make their avatars look like the aliens (or, for that matter, why it’s even an option in a game with zero sci-fi elements), but who cares because it’s funny.
Next episode they have a strategy meeting. Till next time.
