THE STORY THUS FAR: otsu revealed that she’s unable to break the fourth wall (except when she can), there was another recap episode, shinpachi found a letter in a bottle, shinpachi corresponded with the girl who sent the letter in the bottle, shinpachi met his pen pal, sadaharu ate a fuck doll, kagura and zura attempted to reunite a dog amanto with its owner, otose sent the odd jobs crew + otae to a scary hot spring, and gin-san dealt with the ghostly customers of the haunted hot spring

Full Disclosure: I got a new game yesterday so I was barely watching the first two episodes of this arc. It’s got ghosts and Nobunaga and Jojo references so it’s right up my alley, but my video game has a ridiculously handsome guy so it’ll probably be monopolizing my attention for a while.

Anywho, the basic plot I’ve gathered thus far for this arc is that Otose tricked Our Heroes into working at a hot spring that mainly caters to ghosts. Meanwhile, Gin-san hates the job because he’s terrified of ghosts and so he’s preparing to fight back.

Someting that really sticks out about this episode for me is the title. The manga chapters are referred to as “lessons,” which is why the episode titles tend to read like sentences (or occasionally bitter grumblings), but “Gin and His Excellency’s Good-for-Nothings” just sounds like a normal title. It’s weird. Also weird is that it actually is “Gin” without an honorific, even though I think the Okami is the first character in the entire series to refer to him as such. Even his business name is Yorozuya Gin-chan.

On second thought, that’s probably why he’s just “Gin” in the title, so ignore the second half of that paragraph.

Looks like there’s gonna be one more episode of this arc, and Gin-san’s got his rock face on. I’m enjoying it quite a bit, distractions or no. The creepy stuff is genuinely creepy, the funny stuff is incredibly funny, and while the action isn’t quite as over-the-top ridiculous as Jojo can get, it’s still fun.

Till next time.
