THE STORY THUS FAR: kagura and shinpachi got training advice from idiots

I would’ve watched this episode last night, but I spent most of the last Gintama Review complaining and would like to offset it by being able to spend at least part of this one talking about something I like. Cause I like the Saw movies.

Or, at least, I like some of the Saw movies. I’ve only seen the first 3 or 4 and the last one, though that’s simply because I haven’t gotten around to seeing the ones I missed and I’m really lazy about that sort of thing. I took me 4 years to get around to getting caught up on Gintama, after all, and I watch anime a lot more often than I watch movies.

People can “blah blah torture porn” all they want, but the traps are creative and Jigsaw is one of the few horror villains whose threat factor isn’t destroyed or even lessened by giving him a backstory. And I like lots of gore. Lots of gore is lots of fun. Yeah, some of the movies are stupid but every film franchise that doesn’t have every aspect of its production carefully controlled by Marvel has a few duds.

In addition to liking Saw, Hijikata is still my favorite character and his interactions with Sogo are some of the best in the series. So, all the pieces are lined up for this to be a really fun and hilarious episode.

And it doesn’t disappoint. The majority of the episode focuses on Sogo and Hijikata waiting for the other’s betrayal, which never comes because they’re too much on the same wavelength. Plus, it’s a two-parter! Hooray for more of this!

Next episode is more of this hooray! Till next time.
