You may not know this, because it’s never come up before, because there’s an unfortunate dearth of this particular genre recently, but I love a good cooking anime, me. The ludicrous drama! The overly passionate reactions! The ridiculously over the top descriptions of food! The cooking competitions carrying the urgency of life and death! The rivalry turned friendship! When done right, a good cooking anime is one of life’s true pleasures.
And I must admit, True Cooking Master Boy is a very good cooking anime. I love the 80s-anime-set-in-possibly-China-aesthetic. I adore the characters and their delightfully excessive reactions to everything. Is it silly? Of course! But that’s part of the charm of a good cooking anime.
You should totally check this one out. I’ll definitely be sticking with it.
