An actual original anime, based on nothing at all! Remarkable!
Listeners is a weird mix of post-apocalypse, mecha, and music, and it absolutely works for me. The art style is interesting, the animation dynamic, and the music is really, really, really good. The first episode managed to give just enough information to make you curious without being overwhelming, and the characters are likable and relatable without being generic. If I had one gripe, it’d be that the shadowy ‘Earless’ monsters do, in fact, appear to have ears, but I’m assuming they’ll explain that at some point.
I’m really interested to see where they go from here, and will definitely be watching again. You should check this one out, especially if you wanna see a cool girl kill shadow monsters with the power of epic rock.
