First Impressions: Appare-Ranman!

I’ve got three words for you: steampunk drag race.

Or, well, steampunk cross country derby. Appare-Ranman! is about a couple of Japanese guys traveling to America and participating in a cross country race for… reasons that have not yet been disclosed. It’s fun. It’s also kinda cool, because so far, none of the technology used is too far removed from what was actually available at the time (late 1800s-ish, I think), even if it wasn’t exactly widely used. The animation is kind CGI-heavy at some points, but it never really distracts from the action, and the characters introduced so far are likable enough. Needs more female characters, but I’m willing to wait and see who they introduce down the line.

I’ll probably check this one out again. Watch it for yourself, and let me know what you think.
