First Impressions: Scar on the Praeter

This show wants you to think it’s cool so bad. It’s full of heavy shading and dynamic animation and dramatic camera angles, all the characters are 2D composited onto 3D backgrounds, and a soundtrack full of piano and guitar best described as “diet jazz”. There are magic tattoos that give people superpowers and the protagonist fights like a Resonance of Fate reject and the town is called Akatsuki and full of teams with names like Helios and Artemis and Dusk, and everyone speaks exclusively in exposition or one-liners. It’s like the writers just took everything they thought was cool and through it all together without any thought for how it would mesh.

And they were right, this show rules.
