First Impressions: Life Lessons with Uramichi-Oniisan

So, Uramichi-kun, you presume to tell me, who has reach Big Brother LV 100, thereby granting him the ability to capture spiders without fear because someone else is scared, lessons on life? Well, Uramichi-kun, I challenge you to tell me ONE THING I don’t already know. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!

more like life lessons with ace oniisan, BITCH

This should probably be a short. It’s a comedy with only one joke: That Uramichi keeps dropping his cheery kid show host façade in front of the kids, which would be fine in five minute installments. Those sorts of comedies can work (Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle also had one joke, but it was flexible enough to sustain itself), and I didn’t exactly get bored with it by the end of the episode, but it was still wearing itself a bit thin. It could have the legs to carry a full length series if they spend more time on slice of life stuff outside of shooting and developing the characters.

As it is, I’m a bit on the fence. On one hand, very little this season has impressed me so I might give it another episode or two, but on the other, the season is just getting started so there’s still plenty of time for Good Shit to start cropping up. If the premise interests you, you probably won’t regret checking out at least this first episode, but otherwise you might want to just wait to see how things shape up or peek into manga spoilers before committing to anything.

  1. There are so many anime that are one-trick ponies which would be perfectly servicable as short specials, but are agonisingly drawn out. I wonder if the creators behind said anime also feel like it’s doing a disservice to their work…
