I’ve been playing Duel Links since it came out, and while it’s not one of the games I play every single day like Love Nikki, I do play it regularly enough to have all the characters unlocked, despite not being overly good at it.
I’m also the type of player who makes at least one deck per character, and try to stick to their own associated archetype (where applicable) or something that I feel suits them (where not, or where their archetype fucking sucks).
These are my 5 favorite decks I’ve built. Some I put together more or less from scratch, and others I got from the deck lists and then fiddled with a bit. The list is based purely on how much fun I have playing each deck, with zero regard for affordability, how easy they are for new players to get the hang of, how well I actually know how to play them, or competitive viability. They’re also not in any particular order.

1. EX OH DEE UH
CHARACTER: Yugi Muto
SKILL: Grandpa’s Cards
ARCHETYPE: Exodia

It’s a pretty standard Exodia deck: Just keep drawing till you win. The Legendary Exodia Incarnate is there in case my opponent has something that forces me to discard Exodia pieces, but I’ve never had to use it.
2. LUCKY NUMBER 5
CHARACTER: Carly Carmine
SKILL: Draw Sense: Spell/Trap
ARCHETYPE: Fortune Fairy/Quintet Magician

This is another draw till you win deck (I like those), though with the added caveat of it being theoretically possible to lose even after you get what you’re drawing for. My version is still under construction (I need more Chocolate Magicians and wands) but it’s still plenty usable for what I’ve got.
3. FIRE KING YUBEL
CHARACTER: Yubel
SKILL: I’m Always Near You
ARCHETYPE: Fire King/Yubel

As evidence that these lists are truly in no particular order, this deck is my absolute favorite. It’s sometimes a bit broken and sometimes not depending one which archetype the other players are overusing this month, but it’s always fairly trusty, especially now that they gave Yubel a skill that lets them recover banished Yubel monsters, which could potentially be a deck-breaker (at least, it was before we got Return of the Fire Kings).
4. STEAL UR MAN
CHARACTER: Blair Flannigan
SKILL: Maiden of Iron
ARCHETYPE: Maiden in Love + Golden Castle of Stromberg + Familiar-Possessed

This deck is mainly focused on stealing your opponents monsters, but it’s extremely dependent on luck to work. I’m not going to sugarcoat it: You will lose playing this deck–you will lose a lot, in fact–but it’s extremely satisfying whenever you manage to beat the opposing player with their own Blue-Eyes.
It’s also entirely possible I just don’t know how to play this deck, since whenever I put it on the deck list it gets a lot of likes, though that could just be due to people finding the deck name funny.
5. VAM PYRE
CHARACTER: Bonz
SKILL: Posthumous Army
ARCHETYPE: Vampire

Vampires are Cool and also Sexy.
